Jason Segel Can't Stop Talking About The Muppets!

Greetings, Muppet fans! Are you getting tired of hearing Jason Segel talk about The Muppets? Good. There's really no way you could be! Currently, Segel is making the promotional rounds for the new Jack Black vehicle, Gulliver's Travels, in which Segel also stars. But, of course, they just can't stop Jason from talking about The Muppets every chance he gets. Especially on last night's Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, in which he went on and on about how immensely talented the Muppet performers are (which then gathered a huge round of applause). See for yourself below--and make sure you stay until the end to hear The Roots playing "Movin' Right Along" for Jason:

Even on the red carpet for Gulliver's Travels you can't stop Segel's talk about The Muppets, there he confirmed that Jack Black will be making appearances in The Muppets and Emily Blunt confirmed her own cameo appearance:

Also on the red carpet, Segel confirmed to Entertainment Weekly that Jack Black and Ricky Gervais will be making appearances in the movie and Jack Black even talked about his cameo with Entertainment Weekly as well. Dave Grohl, drummer for the Foo Fighters, has also been confirmed by IFC.com with a small part in the film.

Let's take a look at the confirmed list of super stars appearing alongside the Muppets in The Muppets shall we?
  • Jack Black
  • Ricky Gervais
  • Emily Blunt
  • Billy Crystal
  • Wanda Sykes
  • Rashida Jones
  • Chris Cooper
  • Dave Grohl
  • Alan Arkin
  • Zach Galifianakis
  • Jean Claude Van-Damme
  • Mickey Rooney
  • Amy Adams
  • Jason Segel
I don't know about you, but I am beyond thrilled by all of this. These celebrities are in the top-tier of talented, funny, and fun. And Jason Segel could not be more excited about it either. He was literally on Jimmy Fallon for 30 seconds before he started talking about The Muppets. His dedication and passion and heart are what reassures me that this film will be magical and wonderful.

Now if only they could get a better title. The Muppets starring The Muppets? That's a little weak.

Walter is Revealed and Jason Segel Gets His Picture Taken

Greetings, Muppet fans! Entertainment Weekly continues their love of The Muppets in their latest issue, Issue #1128 - November 12, 2010. This time, on pages 14-15, the feature a gorgeous, brand new photo spread featuring a gaggle of Muppets and one Jason Segel!! This is the first official promotion for the upcoming Muppet movie (tentatively called The Muppets in the article that accompanies the picture) and also the first time Jason Segel has been pictured with the Muppets. Oh, and one more thing... the brand new Muppet, Walter, makes his debut in the picture!! See him below...

The article's description of Walter (from Jason Segel and director James Bobin) reads, "Walter, a sweet, slightly naive twenty-something Everypuppet who, in the movie, is the best friend and roommate of Segel's character, Gary. Both Gary and Walter are die-hard Muppet fans. 'Walter is the kind of guy who faints when he sees Kermit,' Bobin says. Of course, Walter's Muppet fandom is complicated by the fact that he is a Muppet himself. 'Walter has a little bit of a self-confidence issue because he's the only person like him that he's seen aside from the Muppets,' Segel explains. 'His dream is to meet the Muppets and be around people who are like him.'" I don't know about you, Muppet fans, but I already really like Walter. What a great premise for a character--and not just because he's totally every single one of us!

But anyway... the picture is gorgeous, the accompanying article is fantastic and extremely hopeful, and I am ridiculously excited for this movie. Just to see all of the Muppets together with Jason Segel for the first time is enough to make me thrilled beyond healthy reason. I absolutely can't wait for this hugely exciting ride we'll all be taking as the first theatrical Muppet movie in 11 years finally moves into production!

The Muppet Show Cast Reunites and Andy and Randy Return

We've got something of a News Update for you today, Muppet fans! Some big new Muppet things have just come out of the pipeline and they must be shared.

First off, in this week's issue of Entertainment Weekly (#1125/1126 - Oct. 22/29, 2010) the fine folks at the magazine released their 20th Anniversary double issue that features tons of classic casts reunited once again. The classic casts include the cast of Back to the Future, The Lord of the Rings, Married... With Children, and The Muppet Show. That's right, The Muppet Show. The issue features a gorgeous, brand new two-page photo spread featuring The Muppet Show cast. Now, I won't show you the picture because I want you all to go out and buy the issue for yourselves... but I can tell you that it includes...
  • Kermit the Frog
  • Miss Piggy
  • Fozzie Bear
  • Gonzo
  • Dr. Bunsen Honeydew
  • Beaker
  • Statler
  • Waldorf
  • Scooter
  • Sweetums
  • Rowlf
  • Dr. Teeth
  • Sam Eagle
  • Zoot
  • Janice
  • Swedish Chef
  • Sgt. Floyd Pepper
  • Animal
  • Rizzo the Rat
  • Yolanda the Rat
  • Bubba the Rat
  • Two chickens
Also included on the following page is a page-long interview with Kermit, Miss Piggy, Fozzie, and Gonzo where they talk plastic surgery, The Muppet Show, the upcoming movie, and more. It's fantastically hilarious. Don't believe me? Here's a little taste...

EW                 What’s your secret for keeping your good looks?

Gonzo             Frequent bog snorkeling.

Fozzie             My jokes get old so I don’t have to.

And that's not even the best part! Trust me when I say that this is a must-own for Muppet fans. I've got the picture spread framed and hanging on my wall already and I'm desperately searching for another issue just to have. Go out and buy this magazine!

The other exciting thing to happen in the Muppet world was that yesterday, two new episodes of The Muppets Kitchen with Cat Cora debuted online. The episodes feature four characters you probably never expected to see in this series--and three I never expected to see again. The second episode, "Slumber Party" also features an amazing "Snuggie" parody with Kermit and Miss Piggy. Watch it!
