Led Zeppelin-a-Day: "Four Sticks"

Only two sticks here!

"Four Sticks", Led Zeppelin IV
"Four Sticks", how wondrously hypnotic. Such power and fury, from the very start. The entrancing rhythm, the four sticks! John Bonham boasts such musical strength, with the wild beat holding court. But that strange, spiraling guitar riff, as it abruptly stops, and then excitably explodes! The entire track is just so remarkable and vivid. Robert Plant isn't saying much of anything, yet is expressing a great deal -- with his titillating yelps and hums. Uggh, just such an alluring number. Its grandiose mood, demanding your attention, forcing you to move move move! Startling, sensuous, rich, and sublime -- oh, I love when JP throws that fuzz over. Everything elevates to a new high, and the intensity of Led Zeppelin has fully taken over. Commanding and magical, "Four Sticks", I love.
